Monas Will Be Opened for Public Only Until 8 PM

To bring order as well as minimize crime and immoral acts in Monas, Central Jakarta, Monas Management Unit (UP) is going to open the area for public only until 8 PM.

“We will not open until late night. We’ll closed maximum at 8 PM every day for the entire parts of the area. But, it is only a discourse. We’ll discuss it first with related regional work unit (SKPD). It would probably be implemented approximately before the end of year,” stated Head of Monas UP, Rini Hariyani, Tuesday (8/12).

As known, all this time Monas is opened for 24-hour. The only part of Monas area which operational hour is limited is the Monas Cup.

“That makes our security officers exhausted. And because of that, leaks happened. We try to tighten operational hour limitation for all areas,” she told.

Moreover, Hariyani disclosed that since Monas is categorized as a museum, her party is also planning to take a day of on every Monday which applies to all Monas areas.

“Every museum has a day off in a week for maintenance and arrangement. So, we’re closed every Monday,” she said.

However, people who would go exercising in Monas’ park still can do it on Monday, but only until 9 AM.

“Monas will be opened on Monday morning for people exercising. By people I mean individuals, not groups. But, we will only open until 9 AM,” she uttered.

For information, on Monday (8/11) the management of Monas area was officially merged from two management units, namely Monas Park UP and Monas Monument UP, to only one unit. For that, Rini Hariyani is appointed to be the Head of Monas Area UP.
